One of AAPA's two annual membership meetings, the Spring Conference is held each year in Washington, DC, and features general sessions as well as committee and board meetings. Sessions focus on current trends in the maritime industry of relevance to all Western Hemisphere ports and US policy issues.

The Administration has criticized the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS) as bad trade deals that have cost American jobs and has withdrawn from the Trans Pacific Partnership, a trade pact with 11 other countries covering 40% of global GDP.  Trade and industry experts will talk about popular views on trade as well as the potential economic impact of these new trade policies on jobs and industries.  What can ports expect? Speakers: Bruce Stokes, Pew Research Center; Yuri Unno, Toyota Motor North America; Julia Hughes, U.S. Fashion Industry Association; and Brian Kuehl, Farmers for Free Trade.
